In the latest update that we have at Chambana News, the IHSA is still moving forward with their Winter Season which includes basketball. Practices per the IHSA can start on Nov. 16 with games starting on Nov. 30. There has been a lot of push back from the IDPH, who moved the sport of basketball from a medium risk to high risk just days before the IHSA was scheduled to meet and form their decision on high school basketball. There has, however, been a rumor floating around that if schools compete in the winter sports season that the ISBE(Illinois State Board of Education) would cut funding for putting children at risk of contracting COVID-19. Between what the Governers office has said, and the IHSA there is still not much clarity as to whether there will be a basketball season at the high school level this year.
